Designed by naval architect Charlie Jannace and built by Hugh Saint Boats, the vessel is known for its “wood wrap” aesthetic on a modern hull.

A fiberglass hull with a specialized wood wrap. Notably, it incorporates a specific type of OSB (Oriented Strand Board) with water-boiled-proof (WBP) glue, an experimental choice intended to showcase the material’s durability.

Although referred to as a “65 Commuter,” the yacht was extended to a total length of approximately 71 feet 10 inches (LOA) to accommodate larger engines.

Propulsion: Powered by twin Caterpillar C32 ACERT 12-cylinder diesel engines, each producing 1,650 HP.

Drive System: Features custom Doen waterjets, bow and stern thrusters.

Performance:

It has a cruising speed of 30 knots and a top speed of approximately 47.8 knots.

Condition:

Despite being over 15 years old, the boat has roughly 95 engine hours as of 2025.
Miss OSB is a unique 65-foot custom commuter-style motor yacht built in 2009 for Canadian forest industry mogul Peter Grant. The vessel was named after Grant’s core business, Oriented Strand Board (OSB), and was designed to be the centerpiece of his $100-million lakefront estate on Lake Temiskaming, known as “Grant Castle”.

History & Context

Origin: Commissioned by Peter Grant, the yacht was intended to symbolize his success in the engineered wood industry. It was built in Florida and underwent initial sea trials there.

The “Grant Castle”: The boat was the inspiration for Canada’s largest residential construction project—an 85,000-square-foot mansion designed specifically to house it in an indoor boathouse.

Following the 2008 global housing market collapse and the subsequent bankruptcy of Grant Forest Products, the estate was never finished. With no dock available at the unfinished estate, Miss OSB was pulled from the water in 2010 and kept in climate-controlled storage for over 15 years.
